Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from next door Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is not legal. Eight casinos are based in a relatively small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent spot, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; however, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are apparently necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The original Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau gambling den, contains 150 slots and 60 table games. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel building that contains a number of amenities aside from the gambling den, which has 10,000 square feet of 130 slots and eighty eight table games.
